What We Wish We'd Known: 1

This summer, most of my free time was consumed by a project for two girls nearing their 13th birthdays. With the help of a whole lot of paint, glue sticks, and glitter glue, I made each of them a book of things I and my friends wish we had known when we were 13. This is the first page.

Be Thou My Vision/The King of Love Medley

I arranged this one early this year as a birthday present for a friend--they are her two favorite hymns--and recorded it in April.

Amazing Grace hymn arrangement

I arranged this last summer and recorded it August 13. It's one of my favorites to play; I hope you enjoy it, too.

and that's a wrap for 2009...

I really did complete my "52 blessings" project--just didn't post the pictures here, for a variety of reasons, one being that I posted them all to Facebook instead and didn't have the time or inclination to double up here.

I survived (OK, more than survived) my first semester at Houghton College and will return for the spring semester this Sunday. I like it a lot there. It's a lot of work, but we have fun, too, and I love living life and worshiping God with all the wonderful people I live with there.

Besides taking a picture every week of something I was thankful for, I also read 64 books--one more than last year. I wonder if I can read 65 this year. I'm on my way--I've completed two so far and started a third--but I won't have any time to read once I get back to school!

I don't have a lot to say here. Anything I feel like sharing with the world generally goes on Facebook, and I don't think anyone reads this who isn't also my Facebook friend, which makes updating my blog pretty redundant. So I wouldn't expect much more to appear here for a while. :)

34/52: Katherine and her family

I have known Kat (she mostly goes by Katherine now, but I call her Kat for old times' sake) since she was sixteen and I was ten. She was one of the first people I met at Joy, Inc., and she became a very close friend and mentor to me over the next several years. I played the piano in her wedding, and then she moved to Kentucky with her husband. The last time I saw her was at the last Messiah weekend with Musicon in Dec. 2006; since then she's had two daughters, so I was extra delighted to see her and meet them for the first time last week. We had a delicious lunch at her dad's house my last day in CT and then just hung out all afternoon. It was very comfortable, and so good to see her!
